Take Training and Project Management to the Next Level

James MinchinHere at the Osen-Hunter Group, we are only as good as our people. Luckily, we are honored to have some of the best out there. James Minchin is no exception.

James is a recent addition to the team; he became a member of the Osen-Hunter family in February 2015.

“When I started, I was told that Osen-Hunter had a family atmosphere,” says James. “I have never felt more welcomed or comfortable in an office environment.”

Before joining us here at Osen-Hunter, James held the position of Director of Training at the international trade and development organization PAE. Among numerous responsibilities, he supported business development and project management and developed the curriculum and training programs for 450 independent contractors. Now, as the leader of Osen-Hunter’s Government Programs, James is fully equipped with the skills and experience to work on our diverse array of courses.

Bringing skills to life in daily work

Using his experience in curriculum development, James has been working with certified Project Management Professional and Piedmont Virginia Community College adjunct faculty member Adrian Felts to redesign a Project Management Course. The redesign is centered on implementing feedback he has received from employees.

“The basis of the redesign,” says James, “is to write a training program that not only teaches the fundamentals of Project Management, but teach them in a manner where each employee, no matter their current role or background, learns skills that can be transferred to their current roles.”

His projects also include the design of a Maintenance Manual for the OHG Innovative Technologies Hybrid SCBA, the SHIELD, and he is working on the enhancing the SHIELD Train the Trainer and SETS Exothermic Cutting Course.

His commitment to these projects is also reflected in his personal life. A dedicated family man, he’s a father of six. Three days of the work week, James commutes from Kent Island to Barboursville — about 147 miles each way. But his weekends are dedicated to outdoor adventures with his wife and kids and spending time around the water when the weather permits.

We are thrilled to have James on our team and are excited to see what the future holds.
