Access Your Anthem and Guardian Insurance Needs from Halfway Around the World
Dealing with ordinary things while you’re halfway around the globe doing extraordinary things is typically not top of mind. Take insurance, for example: When you are trying to stay focused on a work assignment or training, the last thing you need is to be distracted by having to deal with insurance details.
But inevitably, you will have to deal with these matters, so it pays to be prepared. There is some essential information about the Osen-Hunter Group benefits providers that will come in handy when you most need it — like when you realize you left your insurance card behind or you need to contact your insurance provider for prior approval on a medical procedure.
Here’s what you should know before you need it.
Anthem
Anthem is a one-stop shop for your medical insurance needs. You can print an Anthem member ID card, find a provider, check the status of a claim, or see the Explanation of Benefits (EOB) for an existing claim. If you’re in a high-deductible health plan, you can participate in Anthem’s wellness program; if you complete a health assessment, you can receive a $50 gift card — good at hundreds of places!
How to register: When you go to anthem.com, you’ll see the Member Login on the right-hand side of the page. If you haven’t yet registered, follow these steps:
- Go to Register Now and enter the personal information requested.
- If you don’t have your member ID, click “I don’t have my ID number” and enter your Social Security number, last name, and date of birth.
- Create your username and password, answer a couple of questions, and you’re all set.
SelectAccount
If you’re participating in the Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield Lumenos 3000 high-deductible health plan or the Anthem HealthKeepers 3000 high-deductible health plan, you have a health savings account (HSA).
Even if you are not currently contributing to your HSA account, Osen-Hunter contributes $20.84 per pay period (CY $500/year). You can access your HSA through SelectAccount to check how much is in your account, deposit money, or pay bills.
How to access your HSA: Go to selectaccount.com, click Members, and enter your name, date of birth, Social Security number, and SelectAccount ID.
- If you don’t have your SelectAccount ID, you can call SelectAccount (1-800-859-2144) 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Central time, Monday through Friday. A representative will ask you for a small amount of personal information then give you your SelectAccount ID.
- With your ID, you can access your account or set one up.
Guardian Insurance
Guardian Insurance is our umbrella benefits provider. It offers
- regular employee group term life insurance,
- accidental death and dismemberment insurance,
- supplemental life insurance,
- short-term disability,
- long-term disability (regular employees only),
- supplemental vision, and
- a vision discount program.
How to access your account: Start by going to guardiananytime.com. You’ll need to enter your Guardian Group ID number.
- The Group ID is the Group Plan number — 00474613 — for all Guardian plans.
- Guardian went green in 2013 and no longer offers member ID cards.
- When you visit, give your vision or dental care provider the plan number and your Social Security number to locate your coverage.
Anthem and Guardian also offer mobile apps in case you want to access them while on the go. You can download them from Google’s Play store or Apple’s app store.
