Open enrollment season is here! Make sure to review your benefits information.

Osen-Hunter’s annual benefits open enrollment for the 2016 plan year is October 15-31. You should have received information in your Osen-Hunter email about how to gain access to the Employee Portal in order to complete your 2016 Benefits Open Enrollment.

Medical insurance enrollments and changes are effective Dec. 1, 2015, and all other insurance is effective Jan. 1, 2016.

This fall’s open enrollment is your chance to make any changes you need for the upcoming plan year. This is the only time during the year that changes can be made without the change being a direct result of a benefit qualifying event.

Even if you are NOT planning to participate or you are not making changes to your current insurance coverage, you still must complete the online open enrollment by completing the Salary Reduction Agreement and Policy Acknowledgements via the Employee Portal.

As you are reviewing your benefits information, you’ll notice the following enhancements to our programs:

• New Flexible Spending Account (FSA) — this new Medical FSA will offer a way for all employees not participating in a Health Savings Account (HSA) to be able to save pre-tax dollars for known medical expenses. Osen-Hunter will also offer a Dependent Care FSA that will allow employees to save pre-tax dollars for known dependent care expenses. Participating employees will need to establish their yearly contribution amount during open enrollment, and this contribution cannot be changed during the year unless the participant experiences a benefit qualifying event.
• New CollegeAmerica 529 Plan — This new plan, sponsored by Virginia 529, allows participating employees to save dollars to pay for higher education expenses for designated beneficiaries (including themselves).
