Volunteer Support Program: How EASY Is It?
Do you volunteer with a charitable or nonprofit organization?
Volunteerism is critical to many organizations that do amazing work in our communities. If you volunteer, you know how slender the budgets of these organizations are.
Osen-Hunter’s Volunteer Support Program is designed to increase the support you already give your favorite charity or nonprofit. And the best thing about the program: It’s easy! Just ask Jackie Smith-Shipp.
“This year has really opened my eyes to children needing an organization that will allow them to play at their potential and to get the exercise that they need,” says Jackie. Jackie is the team mom for her daughter’s softball team, which is organized and supported by Greene County Youth Center. The center offers the children of Greene County “Babe Ruth Baseball” and “Little League Softball.”
“Being a team mom is a big responsibility because you not only have your own child’s needs to consider, you have at least 13 others that have needs as well. From making sure that they have their asthma kit to having a bottle of water, you never stop hearing your name called out.”
But the pluses of the role are big too, says Jackie. “You have the privilege of being present when a once-in-a-lifetime catch happens or a girl hits a homerun and comes home with a huge smile and the other girls are hugging her.”
Those experiences are the reason why Jackie and others volunteer. But what Jackie didn’t realize was that Osen-Hunter makes your donated service even more valuable to deserving organizations.
Faryn Raines in HR overheard Jackie talking about her volunteer service and told her about Osen-Hunter’s Volunteer Support Program. Jackie was delighted to learn how easy it is to get the grant. She simply submitted her request, and the Greene County Youth Center sent a letter detailing Jackie’s service. As soon as the request was processed and approved, the company sent a donation check to the organization.
Organizations like this always have a need for additional funding. Jackie notes that the the youth center typically does a gun raffle, reaches out to community businesses for funding, and this year ran a Yankee Candle fundraiser. But the additional support from Osen-Hunter was more than welcome.
Thanks to Osen-Hunter’s Volunteer Support Program, the kids are getting a new batting cage, says Jackie. “Go to Faryn if you do volunteer work or are thinking about doing it,” she says. If you qualify, your organization will receive additional rewards because of your generous service.
